card in the WORKS!

I joined a QUILTING card swap, to be hosted at this summers Stampin' Up! convention.

So so.....not a quilter, but here is what I come up with so far(will be adding greeting).........hope it makes the grade(quilters please check in)!

although the card is not complete, please help me out.......I NEED YOUR ADVICE!
Which do you prefer the top or bottom set up?  Basically I'm wondering if I should use 5 or 8 blocks(that's quilting talk, right?...lol) Thanks in advance for your help.....I will post a completed card, once I decide how to finish it!

How about if you placed the "squares" in a diamond shape... And dry emboss after you have the squares on? Or you could do a pinwheel quilt? I have a quilting book somewhere, if you want to borrow it!! (my gramma quilts!)
